Common fault types of Rosemount pressure transmitters

Rosemount pressure transmitters may sometimes encounter malfunctions due to either internal or external factors during practical use, affecting the operation of the instrument or the accuracy of the data. Here are some common types of malfunctions.

1. Frequency conversion interference. During wiring, various signal lines interfere with each other. For instance, interference can be severe when signal lines and power lines are routed in the same conduit, potentially leading to transmitter non-communication or even errors. To avoid such erroneous operations, the distance between instrument cables and power cable trays can be increased.

2. Electrical signal transmission failure. Improper use or maintenance of Rosemount pressure transmitters can easily lead to electrical signal transmission failures. For example, if the transmitter is placed near the device being measured to save space, the signal transmission distance may be too long, resulting in signal interference or attenuation. In this case, the cross-sectional area of the cable should be increased as needed.

3. Circuit fault. When a circuit fault occurs, the computer displays abnormal values. Open the transmitter junction box and check the circuit for short circuits, disconnections, or loose connections. Troubleshoot the fault by shaking insulation, measuring resistance, and testing power supply.

Rosemount pressure transmitters may not only encounter the above situations during use, but may also experience other different malfunctions. For example, humid environments can damage the circuitry; improper selection of the transmitter's range can cause irreversible deformation of the pressure sensing element; zero and range drift within the pressure transmitter, leakage of filling fluid between the diaphragm and sensing element, unstable output, etc., can all lead to a decrease in the accuracy of the pressure transmitter and even damage; weather factors can also affect the transmitter, such as lightning strikes that can damage the transmitter's capsule circuit, causing communication failure, etc.
